Svetlana lived with her mother and her young nieces and nephews. She and the three children, ages 3, 5, and 7, died from poisoning, and at first it was thought that they had all been poisoned with insecticide that was used on their house. But, months later, the young woman’s mother went to police and allegedly confessed that she had poisoned a meal she had made for all four.

Cara Broyles

Name: Cara Lynn Broyles.

Summer Tatum

Details:
Summer’s husband shot her twice in the head. Prosecutors say he was angry because she had discovered he was having an affair. Rushed to the hospital in critical condition, Summer–who was five months pregnant–died soon afterwards. Her baby, a boy named Everett, was delivered dangerously premature and lived only a few hours.

Case Status:
Hunter James Tatum (Husband), pleaded guilty to murder, sentenced to 198 years.

Gabby Petito

Name: Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito.
Died: September 19, 2021 (Body found).

Location: Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA.
Disability: Potentially had a mental health condition, such as OCD or anxiety.

Details:
Gabby was a travel blogger who was on a trip with her boyfriend when she went missing.

Shortly before her disappearance on August 12th, police received a call from someone who said they saw Gabby’s boyfriend hitting her. When police stopped their van, Gabby’s boyfriend told them that they had been arguing about Gabby’s cleaning the van too thoroughly. Gabby was distressed at the time. Rather than a domestic violence incident, police interpreted the incident as a “mental health break.” According to the police report, both Gabby and her boyfriend said that she had “severe anxiety.” Whether or not she did have anxiety, the police dismissed concerns over domestic abuse because of their perception of her having a disability.

The next day, Gabby and her boyfriend continued their road trip. She was last seen alive August 24th.

Gabby’s body was found in Grand Teton National Park. She had been strangled, and her death was declared a homicide.

Case Status:
Brian Laundrie (Fiance), person of interest, police issued a warrant for using Gabby’s credit cards after she died. Body found during the police search; death ruled suicide.

Chelsea and Connor Hill

Name: Chelsea Hill.

Details:
Twin siblings Chelsea and Connor’s mother presented herself at an emergency room and said she was suicidal, and that there were two people dead at her home. When investigators checked the home, they found Chelsea and Connor dead, and police arrested their mother, who told them that she had “lost track of time” and forgotten to feed Chelsea and Connor.

Margarita Sandoval

Three years after she was reported missing, police received a tip that led them to Margarita’s body wrapped up in the basement of a home. Margarita had stayed with her brother and his wife around the time she vanished in 2018. She had reported that they were abusing her. Margarita’s brother and his wife had also been receiving Social Security money intended for Margarita.
