Mary White’s daughter went to the aged care home where she lived and poisoned her with an overdose of medication.

Dr. White was a scientist who studied environment, biodiversity and climate change. She wrote books on environmental sciences and created the Australian Museum’s fossil collection. She also created the Falls Forest Retreat, a rainforest sanctuary in New South Wales.

Details:
Stephanie had dementia and was living in a care home. When her husband came to get her from the care home, staff became alarmed and called police. But they were too late; Stephanie’s husband had already cut her throat. He attempted suicide himself, but survived.

Stephanie’s husband claims that it had been a suicide pact, but we find this unlikely, since Stephanie was in residential care for Alzheimer’s and unlikely to be able to consent to such a thing. -Ed.

Details:
As she slept in her bed, Dawn was stabbed and bludgeoned to death by her sons. Not knowing it was her sons who were attacking her, Dawn called out to them for help as she died.

They buried her body, but were arrested for murder when someone called the police and asked for a welfare check. Her sons initially claimed she had asked them to help her commit suicide, but they kept changing their story and were charged with murder.

Dawn had twenty cats which she cared for. They were healthy and well-fed in a photo taken while she was alive, but were left alone with her killers before her body was found. When the police came for the welfare check, they found that all the cats had survived, though some of them were malnourished.

Je’Hyrah’s neighbors remember that her mother was often negligent. Je’Hyrah was allowed to walk barefoot near broken glass; she was often left alone at home, and strangers came and went from their apartment. A Child and Family Services case had been opened, but closed for lack of evidence of mistreatment.

Two days after the DCFS decided Je’Hyrah was safe, Je’Hyrah’s mother stole a car from a dealership and used it to drive them to the Hillsborough River. She picked up the little girl and walked into the water as Je’Hyrah struggled and screamed for help. When she reached deep water, she tossed Je’Hyrah into the river and walked away.

Je’Hyrah was found by divers less than a half-hour after bystanders called the police, but she had already drowned.
