Bethannie was living with her aunt and her aunt’s girlfriend.

For two weeks, Bethannie’s aunt had kept her strapped to a high chair in the closet, claiming that she had to do this to keep Bethannie from hurting herself.

Bethannie was found unresponsive and dying of a massive head injury; she had been beaten to death by her aunt’s girlfriend. Her body showed signs of chronic child abuse.

Perpetrator: Shanna Gossett (Aunt), pleaded guilty to second-degree murder; Rebekah Joy Wallin (Aunt’s girlfriend), pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Kobe Shaw

When Kobe’s parents found him dead in his crib, they thought he had died because of his disability, which doctors had told them would limit his lifespan to about five years. But when toxicology testing was done, Kobe was found to have been poisoned with methamphetamine by his grandmother, who had been babysitting him that day. She initially went on the run, but was eventually arrested and charged with murder.

Perpetrator: Tonya Monroe (Grandmother), charged with murder, possession of methamphetamine, and first degree cruelty to children.

Maddox Lawrence

Maddox’s father kidnapped her, beat her to death with a baseball bat, and burned her body. Apparently, he was jealous of all the attention Maddox received while she was being treated for eye cancer.

Perpetrator: Ryan Lawrence (Father), pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, sentenced to 25 years to life.

After chronic abuse and starvation, Deborah was beaten to death by her parents. She was the youngest of three girls; her older sisters survived.

Perpetrator: Tamara Barker (Mother) and Malick Harris (Father), both charged with child cruelty resulting in death.

Desmond Hudson Jr.

Desmond’s parents neglected and beat him to death. They didn’t treat his hydrocephalus even though his head was obviously bigger than it should have been. When he died, he had broken bones and head injuries and was malnourished.

Harmony Carsey

Crystal’s autopsy report stated that she died of a brain hemorrhage, and that she was underweight and dehydrated. Her mother denies abusing her, and says instead that Harmony had “mental health problems” and hurt herself by banging her head.

Tyler Bryan

Tyler’s mother strangled him before setting her bedroom on fire and killing herself. Tyler’s twin brother, left alive in another room, survived the fire.

Malik Drummond

Two-year-old Malik’s family claimed that he was autistic and had wandered away from their home, leaving behind his twin sister. Searches were conducted to no avail; five days after he went missing, police became suspicious when it was revealed that Malik had never actually been tested for autism.

Over a year later, Malik’s father turned himself in, and Malik’s remains were discovered in a field near the house.

Ezekial Castro

Cause of death: Murder.*
Location: Tucson, Arizona, USA.
Disability: Tetralogy of Fallot (congenital heart defect).

Ezekial’s mother allegedly poisoned him with salt, making him so sick he needed to be hospitalized. Then while he was in the hospital for that, she allegedly fed him more salt, and Ezekial died.

Perpetrator: Ashley Castro (Ezekial’s mother) was charged with first-degree murder.

Gurneer’s mother spent a lot of money at private hospitals to try to cure her daughter. She strangled Gurneer before killing herself; in her suicide note, she said that she had killed her daughter because Gurneer’s illness could not be cured.
