Logan was a non-speaking child who was often seen by the neighbors playing outside. He enjoyed posting YouTube videos. Neighbors remember him as a smart child, eager to learn, who loved everyone who met him.

Details:
James’s son allegedly left him alone in his home. Police found the son attempting to get back into the house and helped him do so, only to find James’s body. Police say James’s son first said he had seen James only the day before, but then claimed he had left his father with another caregiver four days ago (police believe no other caregiver ever existed). After being abandoned, James died from dehydration.

Case Status:
Michael Stirling (Son) is charged as a habitual offender with involuntary manslaughter and vulnerable adult abuse.

3-year-old girl

Details:
This toddler girl’s father, who was the only adult home to take care of her and her two-year-old brother, had been awake for 31 hours, taking and selling methamphetamine. He was sleeping it off when his three-year-old daughter opened the unlocked front door, left the house, and drowned in a storm drain. Prosecutors called his drug use “criminally negligent” and the little girl’s death “entirely preventable”.

Case Status:
Her father pleaded guilty to manslaughter and child endangerment.
