Rebecca, an outgoing girl who liked to be around friends, was a long-standing member of the Friendship Circle of Michigan, a group for people with disabilities. Shosh Newman, a Friendship Circle member, says that Rebecca was “like a little sister” who “changed [her] life forever”; thanks to Rebecca, she decided to become a Special Education teacher.
Rebecca loved the color red. As a little girl, she wanted to name her little brother “Mr. Salt”, from Blue’s Clues. She grew up into an articulate young woman who talked non-stop and got standing ovations for her performances at the summer camp talent show.

Kelly was a music-lover who played and composed music for the guitar. She was an outgoing woman who could always be counted on to help anyone who asked her, whether they needed food, a place to stay, or someone to go sing karaoke with them. She also liked to spend time with her grandchildren.

Dante was a happy baby. He had a developmental delay; he hadn’t yet learned to walk, and had difficulty chewing and swallowing. He could say a few words, like “ew” and “yeah”. He was being evaluated for autism.
His mother called him “Monkey Man” because he had a favorite blanket with a monkey on it which he carried everywhere. Before he went to sleep, he rubbed his face against his blanket.
Dante’s mother left him with her boyfriend, who abused the boy. Dante was brought to the hospital, unresponsive, with bruises, a compressed neck, and a brain injury, and died a few days later.
