Details:
Sisters Neetu, Nikki, Neeru, and Nidhi were mourning their mother, who had died a year before. Neighbors said that because of their health, they never left their room. They shared one mobile phone between them. Their father, who had withdrawn from society after his wife’s death, was obsessed with their illnesses and their treatment at one hospital or another. A friend of the family says that their father did not want them to go out or work.

Following a tip from the building caretaker, authorities broke into their apartment and found the four women’s bodies, their father’s body, and the poisoned sweets that their father had used to kill his daughters before taking his own life.

The young women were all graduates. One had studied home science, another commerce, and two of them studied arts.

Carmel McDougall

Details:
Carmel died from head injuries sustained after a fall. According to video recordings from their home security system, the fall happened because Carmel’s son put her in a headlock and swung her around, causing her to lose her balance; police say he was “frustrated with [her] declining health”. Videos from two weeks before show her daughter “constrict[ing] her mother’s ability to move and breathe”.

Carmel was born in Jamaica and had lived in Canada before moving to New York. Her passion for cooking invigorated her career as a hospital dietician. Along with her own four children, she fed and cared for many children in her community. She was a devoted Christian who spent much of her time after retirement doing volunteer work for the Most Holy Rosary Church.

Elijah suffered severe burns, believed to have been inflicted when he was put into a bathtub full of scalding hot water. Elijah loved animals and loved his family. An active, energetic child, he spent his days singing, running, and playing ball.

Police say his son admitted to bathing him only every few months and not seeking help for his father’s medical conditions, including the pressure sores that eventually became infected and killed him.

Davi Nandalall

Details:
Davi’s father walked into the kitchen to find that her mother had taken poison. When he checked on Davi in her bedroom, she was also poisoned. He and a neighbor rushed the two women to the hospital, but Davi’s mother died the same day, and Davi died two days later. A police investigation discovered the bottle of poison and declared the deaths to be murder-suicide.

Arshad Shaikh

Details:
Arshad’s friends allegedly murdered him with a hammer and broken beer bottles, then tried to cart his body away in a suitcase and abandon the suitcase on an express train; but railway police saw them and suspected foul play. Checking the suitcase, they found Arshad’s body inside.

After further investigation, authorities now suspect that Arshad’s wife had been having an affair with one of his friends, and that she, the two friends, and a third man planned and carried out the murder.

Details:
Police were called to Thierry’s home by his drunk and confused partner. They found Thierry dead, with injuries all over his body and fatal blows to the face and skull.
